Advances in radio-frequency (RF) technology can now address menopausal symptoms such as vaginal concerns of pain, irritation, dryness, laxity, and impaired sexual function. Other genito-urinary symptoms of menopause such as frequent bladder infections and urinary incontinence can also be addressed with our Plus 90 RF treatment.
With aging, the collagen production in the vaginal and urinary tract is also reduced, and this results in the above-mentioned symptoms, with a significant reduction in quality of life for many women.
Plus 90 delivers RF energy in the form of a safe heat to the tissue in the vagina and onto the labia. With a gentle sweeping motion, this heat distribution increases blood flow in the area, signaling new collagen and elastin formation.
By heating the inferior and posterior aspect of the bladder, the tissue here is also strengthened, and the bladder and urethra is better supported. The nerves around the bladder base are also desensitized to improve symptoms of leaking associated with overactive bladder syndrome, stress urinary incontinence, urge incontinence, and mixed incontinence. When struggling with incontinence, we may also suggest considering our VTone device, that delivers safe and pain-free electric muscle stimulation impulses to assist in pelvic floor strengthening.
The surface tissue of the vaginal canal is strengthened, and the overall vaginal pH is improved, which reduces chronic urinary tract infections, and recurrent vaginal bacterial and yeast infections.
The increased strength in the tissues leads to an improved appearance of the vaginal and vulvar tissues that often soften or weaken after childbirth or with aging. With less laxity in the tissues, sensation is improved and there is an enhanced ability to enjoy intercourse and orgasm again.
We suggest 2-3 treatments, each lasting 15-30 minutes, 2-3 weeks apart. Treatments involve gentle internal vaginal heating and no downtime. Results of symptom improvements may be noticeable as soon as 2 weeks after treatments. Symptoms continue to improve over time, and it is suggested to have an annual maintenance treatment.
Patients are required to have a consultation visit, to have a full history taken and a gynecological examination done to verify that treatment can proceed. We also require that you have a normal Pap smear result within the last 3 years, and your family physician should be able to assist in providing this result.
An exclusion for this treatment is the presence of significant or limiting uterine prolapse (Grade II or more) which you may be aware of already, or will be notified of at the time of the examination.
Further vaginal or labial concerns, such as Lichen Sclerosis or excess tissue of the labia that you are unhappy with can also be treated and we are available to discuss your concerns with you.
