Sclerotherapy
We treat unsightly spider, reticular, and larger, often more painful, varicose veins by means of sclerotherapy. This is the injection of veins with a medication we use called Tromboject, usually requiring 2-5 treatment sessions. It acts as glue and shuts veins down. Downtime is minimal after treating spider and reticular veins, and most patients can return to normal routines within 2 days after treating larger varicose veins. Almost 80 % of veins will improve completely, but new veins may form again or in areas close by, needing repeat treatment within a few years.
We also offer Sigvaris compression stockings for sale in our office for the prevention and treatment of varicose veins, as well as post-treatment support.
Book a complimentary consultation with us to discuss your treatment options and to determine your eligibility for potential OHIP coverage. Spider and slightly larger reticular veins are not covered, but insurance companies may cover some of the treatment and the compression stockings.
